UI Programmer Intern

Epic Games is on the lookout for dynamic interns to join our dev teams in 2024. Whether you work on Fortnite, Unreal Engine, or any of our other games, products, and services, you'll join a team that's pushing the limits of interactive entertainment.

What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a smart, creative UI Programmer Intern to join who will participate in working on parts of the Fortnite Universe. Our Interns are given challenging projects that allow them to have an impact on Fortnite which millions of players experience. If you want to build something Epic, this is the opportunity for you!

This team is responsible for building a new experience in the Fortnite ecosystem. This experience will involve working on an open world survival crafting game within a physics sandbox. There is much opportunity to build something either in the frontend or in-game.

In this role, you will

  • Work with a tightly knit team (user experience designers, artists, producers, and other engineers) to ship UI heavy features.
  • Build UI systems for multiple platform types (e.g., console, PC, mobile)
  • Solve user-facing problems with high visibility.
  • Influence the future of how new experiences are made in Fortnite.

What we're looking for

  • Currently pursuing bachelors or masters degree in CS or related fields
  • Online portfolio showcasing UI, HUD using C++ game or application is a must
  • Significant programming experience C++ through school work or outside activities
  • Solid understanding of Data Structures
  • Building user interfaces for games
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Top candidate will have experience working with Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Preference plusses given to UMG, or similar UI frameworks

This internship has a flexible start date in 2024. Recruitment will be ongoing until teams find an ideal match.
