What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a Gameplay Designer (Sandbox) on our growing LEGO Fortnite team. You’ll work with a cross-disciplinary team of game designers, programmers and artists on LEGO Fortnite's Sandbox game mode that millions of players use to enjoy and express themselves.

In this role, you will

  • Work on expanding Sandbox mode with new features. Implement and drive these new features forward
  • Work closely with other design departments to adopt existing LEGO Fortnite features to work well in Sandbox mode
  • Work with LEGO Fortnite's Building and Physics teams to ensure that our suite of in-game creation tools is as expressive and player-friendly as possible
  • Routinely play and experiment in Sandbox mode to see what works and how to improve it
  • Monitor the internal tooling and ingestion workflows and either fix them yourself, or refer them to the proper programming resources
  • Suggest UX changes for how Sandbox mode should function, and how it attracts the largest possible audience

What we're looking for

  • A seasoned Unreal Engine gameplay designer who isn't afraid to touch any part of the editor
  • The ability to document features and drive your fellow developers towards completion of these features
  • The ability to quickly prototype mechanics
  • The experience to ship features that are thoughtfully implemented & easily maintained
  • Somebody who loves systemic gameplay and who is excited to empower players with toys and tools
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-rounded and equally comfortable scripting Blueprint logic, creating physics setups or creating state machines

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

$169,829$249,082 USD
