What You'll Do

Epic is looking for a Technical Artist to join the Quixel team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for collaborating with a wide range of artists, engineers, and other developers to research and develop tools and processes to improve artistic results and output related to our goals of simplifying procedural world and asset creation. This role requires a solid understanding of multi-platform world-building, from an artistic and technical standpoint, where the primary objective will be focused on procedural systems.

In this role, you will

  • Research and develop world-building techniques and features in collaboration with art and engineering teams
  • Develop advanced, scalable procedural systems to support the art team’s vision
  • Maintain and optimize environments with real-time performance and quality in mind
  • Support an art team with shader creation, optimization guidance, and profiling
  • Drive development of technical guidelines for scalable content, from low-end to next-gen hardware.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience with hands-on optimizing and profiling, with an understanding of world-building.
  • Experience in procedural creation with a toolset such as Unreals PCG.
  • A solid understanding of Unreal Engine regarding world-building.
  • Ability to autonomously build tools/workflows that can improve artistic results and output, though not required to be an expert in visual quality.
  • Feels comfortable interfacing with engineers to develop new features and improve existing ones.
  • A thoughtful and collaborative attitude, with a willingness to share regular updates and seek feedback from the team.
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively, with great communication skills.
