About the role
Forter is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineering Student to join our Billing team. As a student at Forter, you won’t just be fixing bugs on the sidelines—you will be an integral part of the team. You will work on real production code that manages high-scale data and supports Forter’s diverse product lines.
You will work closely with experienced Senior Engineers who are dedicated to your mentorship and growth, helping us ensure accuracy and efficiency as we scale. What you'll be doing
- Design, build, and maintain features for scalable and resilient systems, collaborating with teammates to deliver high-quality code.
- Take ownership of specific tasks and features from concept to production.
- Work on data-driven initiatives to improve system performance and billing accuracy.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
What you'll need
- Current Enrollment: Currently enrolled in a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (with at least 1.5 years remaining until graduation).
- Availability: Ability to work at least 2 days a week.
- Coding Skills: Good knowledge of Python (preferred) or another high-level language (Java, C++, etc.) with a willingness to switch to Python.
- Fundamentals: Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Data Structures, and Algorithms.
- Database Basics: Basic understanding of SQL and database concepts.
- Mindset: A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a passion for problem-solving.
- Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
It would be cool if you have
- Experience with AWS or other public cloud services.
- Familiarity with NoSQL data stores (e.g., Redis, Elasticsearch).
- Previous internship experience or personal coding projects (feel free to share your GitHub!).
- Familiarity with container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
